First things first, we made sure the grass underfoot was looking spectacular with the help of a specialist lawn care provider we found at https://www.lawncare.net/service-areas/illinois/. When it came to the general theme of the decorations, we were inspired by florals; especially peonies, ranunculus and the greenery of mother nature’s garden. Both of us love anything to do with florals, from always having fresh blooms in our homes, to pops of color in our clothing and accessories. We took florals and ran with it, incorporating them in a gorgeous frame done for us by Stephanie from Balconi Floral, on the tabletop in our DIY mercury glass vases, even in the ice cubes we made to keep our bubbly cold. We even served our bubbles with stems of lavender! They were threaded through teak patio sets and hidden in bushes, we couldn’t get enough! Teak patio sets by the way, are a must if you love outdoor entertaining, they’re comfortable, versatile and durable so they’re great in any weather! Our calligraphy designer, Christina from Fox and Flourish, created the most dainty invitation on pale pink paper for us that suited our theme so perfectly. Details are important to us, down to the lemon peel in our drink, to the floral ice cubes and the balance of color and greenery in the hanging vase. Making sure that we had the best canopy tent for our garden party was key too, it had to hold up well and be a place for people to go to for protection so they could get out of the sun as it can get quite hot! We are now looking at custom sheds so that we can make garden parties a regular occurance!
Food is an important part of both our lives as we come from big families that always have way more food on the table than necessary. We chose to keep our menu light, so we went with more salad focused menu options and easy to eat items. We’re big believers in homemade food made so we put together everything from scratch {with the exception of the delicious Cartem’s donuts}.
Our menu consisted of: Greek Salad, Israeli Couscous Salad, Cucumber and Avocado Asiago Loaf, Blackberry Nectarine Proscuitto Skewers. We toasted the gorgeous weather and beautiful setting with Lavender Lemon Sparkler. For dessert we treated ourselves to earl grey donuts {amongst other delectable flavors} and sat around, enjoying good conversation and laughs.
A huge thank you to our photographer, Matthew Burditt for capturing our party, as well as our vendors for being a big part of how we entertain.
Xoxo
