Enjoying Afternoon tea is such a delightful way to spend time with family and friends. As self-proclaimed afternoon tea aficionados we wanted to explore a new way of enjoying this popular treat and decided to have a Tea Party Picnic in the park! We wanted to pay homage to the delicate beauty of what afternoon tea is about. We were inspired by the romance of the french country-side as well as the traditional English elements of high tea.
It was important to us to create a fresh, modern take on a tea party picnic with touches of French and English design elements but still have it recognizable as an afternoon tea. Through the use of vintage tea wares, gorgeous blooms, pale colors such as pinks and creams and floral prints, paired with traditional afternoon tea bites and individual cakes we baked as a homemade touch, we were able to achieve a tea party picnic that was both stylish and chic while still maintaining the beloved traditions of afternoon tea. We also DIY’d our ribbon and floral background as an added element to bring together all the colors of our gathering. Having a picnic outdoors allowed us to bring in touches of nature, greenery and gorgeous lighting that provided the softness that we were striving for.
We sipped on traditional English breakfast tea while nibbling on small bites before switching to some bubbly to enjoy with the sweet treats. Our vendors provided us with the most perfect tea sets, florals, and nibbles that we were able to combine with some of our own bits and pieces to put together a sophisticated albeit soft and feminine picnic.
We couldn’t have achieved this wonderful, one-of-a-kind affair without the amazing photography stylings of Matthew Burditt and our other vendors: The Vancouver Tea Party Company, Balconi Floral Design Studio, The Pursuit of Pretty Shop and Adonia Tea House.
